The City of Geneva Department of Public Works is asking residents for help naming our two new heavy equipment pieces. In order for your suggestions to be considered as part of the final vote, they be sent prior to 4 p.m., September 12th, 2023. Residents can submit one name, or several. The more pun-filled and playful the nickname, the better. Pop culture, local character, and other references are encouraged. Here is a brief description of the vehicles up for naming. The two new pieces were expecting delivery are: #1 Street Sweeper - 2024 Tymco 600 Regenerative Air Sweeper. Purpose: This vehicle is assigned to the Highway Maintenance Division. It is used for routine street sweeping to achieve aesthetic and safety goals. Sweeping helps keep city streets and highways clean and clear of leaves, litter and other debris that can become a safety hazard to pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicle traffic. #2 Sewer Cleaner - 2023 Vac-Con PD3690HN/1000 Combination Sewer Cleaner. Purpose: This vehicle is assigned to the Sewer Maintenance Division. It is used for routine sewer utility line cleaning and jetting utilizing high-pressure water to effectively flush out dirt, debris, sludge, and any other forms of blockage from sewer pipes. Frequently shared department wide, the Vac-Con is also used to locate and safely hydro-excavate around delicate utilities without damaging them. Once the names have been received, a list of finalists will be compiled from all of the suggestions and our DPW crews will vote to narrow down the top 3 choices. The top 3 choices will be released for the public to vote on the new name! The winning name will be announced Friday, 10/6 with trucks being revealed at our annual touch-a-truck event Monday, 10/9!
