Fire Safety & Property Maintenance Inspections
Per the City of Geneva Municipal Code, all Commercial (including, but not limited to, Public Assembly) and Multi-Family (3-Unit and above) Residential Properties located in the City of Geneva are required to:
- Undergo routine Fire Safety and Property Maintenance Inspections by the Geneva Fire Department's career staff;
- Properties are inspected on either an annual or bi-annual (every 2 years) basis, depending on property classification.
- Be issued and maintain a valid Operating Permit
- Approximately 1 month prior to a property's Operating Permit expiration date, a letter will be mailed to the Property Owner as a reminder to schedule an inspection appointment.
As a reminder: a property owner or authorized representative must be present during an inspection.
