Grant Programs For Residents

The Geneva Neighborhood Resource Center can help residents by directing them towards grant funding for financing their home and towards neighborhood improvement projects.

The Geneva Neighborhood Resource Center is proud to partner with the following agencies that provide home buyer, home renovation, and energy conservation programs and grant funding for the residents of the City of Geneva.  Contact our partners for more information about their programs.

Bishop Sheen Housing Grant

Bishop Sheen Ecumenical Housing Foundation, Inc. (Sheen Housing) is pleased to inform you that we have been successful in receiving grant funding through NYS Homes and Community Renewal. We want to thank you for your support of our application.

Now it’s time for us to get to the real work. Below you will find a brief synopsis of the funding that is currently available through the RESTORE, Access to Home and Access to Home for Medicaid. We ask that you refer anyone who might fit the parameters of the programs as listed below. Please make the referral directly to Sheen Housing’s Rehabilitation Office at (585) 657-4114 (ask for Joe or Sue) or you can email them at

Sidewalk Improvement Loan Program

The City of Geneva has partnered with the Lyons National Bank to provide a low-interest, short-term loan for sidewalk improvements.  If you are interested in obtaining a loan for sidewalk improvements, you should schedule a sidewalk inspection with the Department of Public Works (789-3101), then contact a contractor in the area to determine the approximate cost of the sidewalk improvement.

Once you have received your estimate, contact Lyons National Bank at 781-5000 or visit the Geneva branch on 399 Exchange Street to begin the loan process.

Currently, the City of Geneva does not offer a grant for sidewalk improvement.

Tax Credit Program

Owners of historic income-producing real property, owner occupied homes, and barns may qualify for an income tax credit for rehabilitating the property. Find information on the state and federal tax credit programs here.
