A Neighborhood to Remember
The neighborhood designated as Founders Square is roughly bounded by Washington St. to the north, Hamilton St. to the south, S. West St. to the west and Pulteney St. to the east. The name Founders Square was chosen for this neighborhood to reflect the roots of the neighborhood and why certain streets bear the names they were given almost 200 years ago. Along with possessing some of the oldest, most prominent, and unique homes in the city, the neighborhood is home to Jefferson St. Park and Playground and the historic Washington St. Cemetery, where many Civil War heroes are interred along with some of Geneva’s more prominent citizens of the first 150 years of the city’s existence.
