Updated Masking Guidance
Starting Thursday, August 19th, all visitors and employees will be required to wear masks inside public facilities and during public meetings regardless of their vaccination status.
The Ontario County Public Health Department has been closely monitoring the recent COVID-19 case numbers over the past few weeks. Based on the CDC’s Level of Community Transmission metric, Ontario County is currently classified as experiencing ‘Substantial’ community transmission of the COVID-19 virus. Based on looking at current trends, this recent classification is likely not an anomaly that will be short-lived. Ontario County has seen a sustained and significant increase in new cases over the past month, and with the return of children to school and the onset of colder weather, it is anticipated that this trend will continue. The new mask requirement is in accordance with the current CDC guidance.
We will continue to monitor the status of COVID-19 transmission in our community in close coordination with Public Health. When the current increase in cases subsides and the county has returned to the low or moderate rate of community transmission, we will adjust our protocols accordingly.
Thank you all for your understanding and cooperation with this necessary precaution.
