Reopening Plans for McDonough Park
City DPW staff has been working with Bob Ohmann, the operator of Geneva Red Wings Baseball, on plans for reopening City of Geneva’s historic McDonough Park.
Geneva Red Wings Baseball has a COVID-19 Preparedness Plan in place adhering to the NYS Governors current COVID-19 Guidelines and we are excited to announce that although with a limited schedule, summer baseball will once again return to the park.
A Rochester NY based league, that will feature the Geneva “Snow Cats,” has scheduled games to be played on weekends at McDonough Park starting July 11th and finishing on August 16th. A format of double-header baseball games will be played on Saturdays and Sundays only with teams rotating time on the field.
In regards to fans, according to the current Governor’s plan, starting on July 6th, only 2 fans per players and coaches will be allowed to attend games.
Geneva Red Wings staff will require all players, coaches, umpires and fans to sign in for COVID-19 related contact tracing and will require everyone to wear facial coverings while inside the park. Social distancing signage and six foot spacing markers have been placed throughout the park for guidance.
It is expected that a limited concession will be available.
